Has anybody seen a crackdown on tutoring houses in their area? In other words, a buddy of mine in Surin said that an Immigration officer came into his school and told the school that their teachers cannot work outside of the school, or at the school after hours. So basically a "work permit must equal work place" kinda deal. I haven't heard about it in Lampang yet, but nothing says that they have to give us a heads-up before rustling everyone's jimmies....

When I worked outside of Lampang a few years ago, nobody seemed too concerned about work permits. They didn't seem concerned wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle, either.
Of course, things change.
Sometime next month, after I have a shiny new visa and after our condo looks shiny new and is ready to sell, I'll be very interested in how strictly the police watch teachers in Lampang and Buriram.

As you are probably aware, nothing new here. I make a habit of not giving advice on such important matters. My only recommendation would be to contact the alien liaison officer or the legal lead at the labour office at the Government Center. Both are highly knowledgable on this issue. You will find that the one work permit one workplace is not as most think.

None of this affects me personally. I tutor at my house, and otherwise stick to my hours at school, but there's a couple of friends that I would tip off if something like this were coming down the pike, so to speak. And I know that they don't read forums or anything, so there's a bunch of people that could be inconvenienced by something like this.

A visit to the labour office sounds just the tonic
